Most of the Lighthouse paraphernalia in my home-office I have bought myself or received as gifts from friends, but the ones I treasure the most (replicas of actual lighthouses I have visited) have been given to me by the inspiration of my life, my wife Mari. This past Father’s Day, she gave me another special and meaningful present, The Ultimate Book of Lighthouses. After a few minutes of flipping through the pages and reading up on a couple of the lighthouses, a rather charming thought came to mind. I imagined our Heavenly Father (with a grin from ear to ear) flipping the pages of His very own lighthouse book; one that contains the life story of every person who has shined and is still shining the light of His Son throughout the world.
Many books (biographies) have been written about men and woman who have dedicated their lives to spreading the love of God through preaching, teaching, and doing missionary work. Some, even to the point of enduring martyrdom. But if there was ever a book that included every single person who has stood as a lighthouse for God I am sure it would be too big to handle. Perhaps a few thousand-page volumes would be more accessible.
The truth is that God already has his very own “lighthouse” book. In it are the names of everyone who has ever confessed His Son Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I personally believe that it also includes the name of every child born and unborn who was not given the opportunity to reach the age of *accountability (when one is able to comprehend and respond to the message of salvation).
I truly love visiting and blogging about lighthouses. Needless to say, I am totally enjoying The Ultimate Book of Lighthouses, especially when I come across a familiar beacon; one that I have personally visited or has inspired me to write a devotion. But I can assure you that it doesn’t compare with the joy of knowing that I already made it into God’s Book of Lighthouses.
Is your name in God’s book? If it is, then until the day when you are called into His presence you are to continue shining the light of His salvation in a world that is lost in the darkness of sin. There is no one particular way to accomplish that and you certainly don’t need permission to do it. I encourage you to read a powerful post by Bisi Oladipupo, a fellow blogger, titled “Do you need permission from man?” And remember, those who see and follow the light you shine will find their way to the saving arms of Jesus (just as you did) and their names will also be added to God’s Book. On the other hand, if you are not sure whether or not your name is in His book then I invite you to open your heart, surrender to the Lordship of Jesus and sincerely follow the steps on THIS LINK. If you do, you can be confident that you will appear in God’s Book of Lighthouses, which by the way is also known as the Lamb’s Book of Life!
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your glorious light. The light that guided me to your saving arms. The light you deposited within me so that I can be a lighthouse for you. A lighthouse that shines so that others may see their way to Jesus. And thank you, Father, for including me in your book, the Lamb’s Book of Life. I can’t way to hear my name called! Amen.

Wow, Joe! This is beautiful! I love how you included ALL of God’s children as being in His Lighthouse Book! I believe God is telling me to write even more about light and to continue to be light and keep my light lit! Even in my recent post about NYC, I wrote about my husband and I having the privilege of being God’s light. It gave us so much joy! And I truly felt that we outshine all the Times Square billboards when we stoped to talk to people and let them know their lives are important. I’m done glad to have scrolled back and read this; I’m glad so didn’t miss it! I still hope to be buying a lighthouse book from you one day! God bless you and Mari and your precious family shining bright for Jesus! ✝️

Hello Joe,
I think you beautifully tuned your personal love for lighthouses into God’s personal love for us or rather our light shining in Jesus. I am pretty sure, He does have that book depicting our light and one of these days, I would like to get a glimpse into it 🙂

As I was reading your POST, Joe, an old gospel tune popped into my head with the lyrics embellished your words:
For Jesus is the Lighthouse, I owe my life to Him. For Jesus is the Lighthouse and from the rocks of sin; He has shone a light around us that I clearly see, if it wasn’t for the Lighthouse, tell me where would this ship be.
A personal testimony.

Beautiful! I recall you sharing that song with me a while back, but I had forgotten all about it. Thank you for mentioning it again. I have shared it on my LD Fb page. Surely, “if it wasn’t for the Lighthouse, tell me where would this ship be.” Blessings, dear brother. Keep shining for Jesus. https://youtu.be/VRflze1VfLQ
